During National Principals Month, We Are Hoke proudly recognizes Deidre Gales, principal of West Hoke Middle School, and thanks her for her service to the students, educators, and families of the Tigers community.
Gales’s career includes teaching at West Hoke Middle and serving as an assistant principal at McLauchlin Elementary before becoming a principal. Having joined Hoke County Schools in 2012, she brings experience in both classroom instruction and school administration to her leadership responsibilities.
Her educational accomplishments include earning a bachelor’s degree in Criminal Justice from Fayetteville State University, a master’s degree in School Administration from the University of North Carolina at Pembroke, and a master’s degree in Curriculum and Instruction from Grand Canyon University. These achievements reflect her investment in preparing for educational leadership and supporting student learning.
At West Hoke Middle, her documented leadership priorities include strengthening family and community engagement, improving school communication, and helping students prepare for the next stage of their education. In a published school letter, Gales encouraged families to follow their children’s academic progress and work closely with teachers, emphasizing that student success requires a shared effort.
The school also offers opportunities such as robotics, Battle of the Books, speech and debate, band, dance, and BETA Club, giving students ways to explore interests beyond their daily coursework. These opportunities form part of the school community she leads.
Principal Gales, thank you for your service to West Hoke Middle School and your commitment to students, staff, and families. We Are Hoke celebrates your accomplishments and appreciates your leadership of the Tigers!
