During National Principals Month, We Are Hoke proudly recognizes Principal David Renninger of Don Steed Elementary School and thanks him for his service to students, educators, and families throughout Hoke County.
Renninger became Don Steed Elementary’s principal for the 2026–2027 school year, bringing valuable classroom and administrative experience to the home of the Racers. His career includes teaching at Rockfish Hoke Elementary, serving eight years as assistant principal at Sandy Grove Elementary, and leading J.W. McLauchlin Elementary as principal beginning in 2019. These professional milestones reflect a sustained commitment to education and school leadership.
At Don Steed Elementary, his leadership serves a school community whose mission emphasizes rigorous instruction, meaningful learning, and strong relationships. The school’s vision focuses on preparing students for college, careers, and life while encouraging integrity and innovation—goals that make the work of a principal especially meaningful.
Being a principal means balancing countless responsibilities while keeping children at the center of the work. From supporting teachers to helping families and guiding daily school operations, that service deserves recognition and appreciation.
Principal Renninger, thank you for bringing your experience and dedication to Don Steed Elementary. We Are Hoke celebrates you and the important role you play in helping the Racers move forward!
