During National Principals Month, We Are Hoke proudly thanks Leslie Neal, principal of SandHoke Early College High School, for her service to education and her leadership of the Lions community.
Neal began her educational career at Hoke County High School as a social studies teacher before becoming an instructional facilitator. Her professional accomplishments include earning a master’s degree in School Administration from the University of North Carolina at Pembroke and participating in the Sandhills Leadership Academy. Her experience also includes administrative service at Hawk Eye Elementary, work as an assistant principal and athletic director in Cumberland County, and high school principalship in Sampson County before returning to Hoke County.
At SandHoke, Neal leads a school dedicated to high expectations, personalized learning, and preparing students to graduate ready for college and careers. That responsibility includes supporting a demanding academic program while working with educators and families to help students navigate early college opportunities.
The school community has meaningful achievements to celebrate. Sandhills Community College reported that 73 SandHoke students earned associate degrees during its 2026 graduation cycle, demonstrating the opportunities available through the early college partnership. This accomplishment belongs to the students and the educators, families, and college partners who supported their work, with Neal serving as SandHoke’s principal.
Leading an early college high school requires balancing academic expectations, student support, and coordination between high school and college learning. National Principals Month offers an opportunity to appreciate that work and the leadership behind it.
Principal Neal, thank you for your service to SandHoke Early College High School. We Are Hoke celebrates your professional accomplishments and appreciates your work helping the Lions prepare for their futures!
