During National Principals Month, We Are Hoke proudly recognizes Gerald Puckett, principal of J.W. Turlington School, and thanks him for his service to the students, educators, and families of the Titans community.
Puckett’s professional accomplishments include being named Ireland Drive Middle School’s 2017–2018 Teacher of the Year. His professional profile also lists Employee of the Month recognitions in March and November 2016, milestones that reflect recognition earned during his teaching career.
At J.W. Turlington, Puckett’s published welcome message emphasizes providing students with a safe, orderly, and caring environment where they can grow. He recognizes that each student has different needs and highlights the importance of adapting instruction and guidance resources to support academic, social, and cultural development. He also stresses high expectations and collaboration among students, families, staff, and the community.
That work carries particular meaning at Turlington, whose alternative education program offers students a different setting in which to continue their education and work toward graduation. The school’s mission emphasizes academic excellence and strong character, while its vision focuses on preparing students for college, careers, and life.
Leading a school requires patience, thoughtful decisions, and daily attention to instruction, student support, and family communication. National Principals Month offers an opportunity to recognize those responsibilities and the importance of helping young people see possibilities for their future.
Principal Puckett, thank you for your leadership and service to J.W. Turlington School. We Are Hoke celebrates your accomplishments and appreciates your commitment to the Titans community!
