During National Principals Month, We Are Hoke proudly thanks Tiffany Tyler, principal of Upchurch Elementary School, for her service to education and her commitment to the students, staff, and families of the Eagles community.
Tyler became Upchurch Elementary’s principal for the 2026–2027 school year after serving as assistant principal at Sandy Grove Middle School. Her career also includes teaching at East Hoke Middle School, where she later became an instructional facilitator, and serving as an academic coach at Scurlock Elementary. These professional milestones reflect experience in both classroom instruction and supporting fellow educators.
Among her accomplishments, Tyler was selected in 2024 for the Assistant Principal Accelerator program through the North Carolina Principals and Assistant Principals’ Association. Her subsequent appointment as principal marks another important step in her leadership career and brings that experience to Upchurch’s school community.
At Upchurch, she leads a school whose mission emphasizes high expectations, critical thinking, lifelong learning, and a safe, supportive environment. The school’s stated beliefs also recognize the importance of celebrating student accomplishments and involving the entire school community in children’s education. These priorities provide a meaningful foundation for Tyler’s work with teachers, students, and families.
Leading an elementary school requires daily attention to instruction, staff support, student needs, and family communication. National Principals Month gives our community an opportunity to recognize those responsibilities and express appreciation for the people who guide our schools.
Principal Tyler, thank you for bringing your experience and leadership to Upchurch Elementary. We Are Hoke celebrates your service and appreciates your work on behalf of the Eagles!
