During National Principals Month, We Are Hoke proudly recognizes Demarious McNeill, principal of Scurlock Elementary School, and thanks him for his service to the students, educators, and families of the Bears community.
McNeill’s educational accomplishments include earning a bachelor’s degree and a master’s degree in English Language and Literature, along with a master’s degree in School Administration. These achievements bring together a foundation in literacy and preparation for the responsibilities of school leadership.
At Scurlock Elementary, McNeill emphasizes high expectations, purposeful instruction, and encouraging students to recognize their own potential. His principal’s message highlights the importance of school and home partnerships, asking families to support regular attendance, read with their children, communicate with teachers, and participate in school activities.
His service also includes communicating opportunities for learning and community involvement. He has organized canned-food donations and sponsor partnerships as ways to support families, while its calendar included robotics, Battle of the Books, BETA Club activities, a Veterans Day breakfast, and Thanksgiving meal distribution. These documented efforts show the range of academic and community opportunities offered at Scurlock during his leadership.
Leading an elementary school requires balancing classroom needs, staff support, family communication, and daily operations. National Principals Month gives our community an opportunity to appreciate that responsibility and the work involved in helping children prepare for their next steps.
Principal McNeill, thank you for your service to Scurlock Elementary and your commitment to education, family partnerships, and community involvement. We Are Hoke celebrates you and appreciates everything you do for the Bears!
